The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is on a mission to inspire the next generation of land and water stewards!

We recognize and invite Detroiters to shape our vision for museum sustainability. Let your voice be heard when you contribute to vet our guiding principles! These principles will create the foundation for future green initiatives.


• Energy: Hear about Jefferson Chalmers’ Community Treehouse‘s solar powered Shine-A-Light project and learn about how to implement the concept of Community Solar
• Water: Tour our newest Sankofa porous pavers project, and learn about Green Stormwater infrastructure.

• Food: See photos and videos of the Detroit Independent Freedom Schools Movement urban garden and learn about Detroit’s food security scene.

Enjoy friends, refreshments, and conversations! Registration is free, but required.
